クラシック入門として典型的なハードルとなるブラ１はいろんな演奏をかれこれ聴いてきましたがこれが最高というものにありつけませんでした。フルベンは音の問題がありこの３０年間他の指揮者の録音では軽いカラリ演奏が多いこと、またカラヤンの録音ものもあまり好みのものがありませんでした。しかしこの演奏は現代（この２０年間）において最高にバランスが取れた熱い情熱やロマンをたたえたブラ１の演奏と言えます。過去にFMでカラヤンの特集をしていた時、カラヤンのべスト曲のアンケートでブラ１がベスト１に挙がっていた理由を今この録音を聴いて理解出来ました。浄夜についてもスタジオ盤と比べて情熱の嵐といった起伏のある感情のウネリも聴こえます。まさにカラヤンが生涯にわたって探求し到達できた世界がここにあります。
